Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (855) 321-3202. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, dental.ufl.edu.
With 3.7 out of 5 on Google from 128 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for dentists in Gainesville. Recent reviews are the best guide.
Gainesville is in Florida, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Gainesville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The MDs are very nice but my daughter had to have a root canal they did the first portion and told her to come back they couldn't finish in the allotted time, they couldn't get her in again for 5 weeks. She developed an infection they tried antibiotics that didn't help had her come back in and had to have her tooth removed (she's only 15) we will not be going back.

What a horrible place! First off, I get there early to my appt, the receptionist asked very rudely for my insurance card and she snatches it from me all upset. After my son does his X-ray we wait in the waiting room not too long then once we get taken back to the consult room, we must have waited 30 to 40 mins for the dr to come in. He comes in rushing and says we have to hurry to go take an xray before they close in 10 mins with no explanation but Iβm rushing since they are about to close. Once we get there he leaves us and weβre just sitting waiting for someone. Then the technician gets on the phone with Iβm assuming the front desk trying to find my sonβs chart and no one can find it. After they finally find it, the technician comes out and says they forgot to verify my sonβs medical insurance so we have to wait to do his xray. Some other front desk employee comes up to me and asks for my sonβs s medical insurance card I give it to her and she walks away as she walks away the X-ray technician asks her what insurance do we have and she goes βthey donβt cover this X-rayβ. She still goes to go double check. Then I hear here talking to the technician saying βIβm going to let them han

Dentists and technicians are fantastic. It is extremely difficult to get to talk to someone by phone, get answers from staff who are often harsh or nonchalant, seemingly uncaring. The wait list to get in is horrible. I expect better from the University of Florida. This is not representing UF standards in a positive way. Care and health professionals are top notch, though.

I am so grateful for this school and can not say enough great things. I have recently seen both the endodontist and the oral surgeon. I saw DR. Geri Bako for a possible root canal infection and he was so thorough that he actually had me come in twice to make sure he was correct in his assessment that I do not need any root canals or teeth extracted. Dr. Bako is not only proficient, but also really caring. He knew I was driving very far to see him, and he referred me to the oral surgeon and walked me over to her office to request they see me that day. If I ever need any endodontist work I will absolutely return. Also the oral surgeon was also great..she actually recognized signs in me no one else had and she ordered a mono test that came back positive..that's not even her department but I shared my story about swelling, strep, a penicillin shot and then a crazy rash all over my body that had lasted two months ..she immidiately said that is classic mono. She was right. No one at the ER, primary care or even allergist has recognized the signs or symptoms until now. I am extremely impressed by this team and would reccomend them to anyone in a heartbeat.

Terrible they charged 205 for X-ray evaluation & extraction, they only took the X-ray seen some infection then tell me they canβt help to come back in 3 weeks to their actual clinic. They then tell me Iβm only getting charged 95 and will refund the rest, they sent me off, at the time I didnβt realize they hadnβt prescribed me any amoxicillin either I was in pain. Two days go by I found antibiotic prescription else where, urgent care, experience was bad so I didnβt want to come back and sit and wait for hour to be charged for nothing. Their form of evaluation is looking at X-ray and feeling around the general area thatβs it and come to find out they charged me the full 205, I contacted them and they are now saying Iβm being charged 115 by their finance team they stated they charged for X-ray and to feel around my mouth for literally a minute. Complete waste of time and money left there and later that evening my cheek was swollen and in worsened condition after all that non sense. Bunch of rookies, go to radiant dentistry in jonesville if possible, they helped me and gave me emergency surgery the following Monday, no pain and a way more exceptional experience.
